Oklahoma! Directed by Leslie Hodnett and Susan Lisle Auditions August ________ October 9-12 and 16-18, 2008 Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century. Rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. With these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. We have no doubt they will succeed in making a new life together in the triumphant Oklahoma!
A Tuna Christmas Directed by Tish Merrill Auditions October 12 & 13 Dec 4-7 and 11-13, 2008 It’s Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas. Radio station OKKK reporters Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various Yuletide activities including fierce competition in the annual lawn display contest, and Joe Bob Lipsey’s production of Christmas Carol being jeopardized by unpaid electric bills. Many colorful Tuna denizens join in the holiday fun. A Tuna Christmas is a total delight, with two quick-changing comedians creating the more than twenty roles.
The Foreigner Directed by Debbie Ware Auditions December 7 & 8 Feb 12-15 and 19-21, 2009 “Froggy” LeSeuer, a regular guest at a Georgia fishing lodge has brought along a friend, a pathologically shy young man named Charlie. To help him, “Froggy” tells everyone that Charlie speaks no English. The fun really begins as Charlie overhears more than he should—the evil plans of a two-faced minister; that the minister’s fiancé is pregnant; and many other damaging revelations that fuel the nonstop hilarity of the play and set up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the “bad guys” and the “good guys” emerge triumphant.
The Women Directed by Jason Lee Auditions February 15 & 16 Mar 26-29 and Apr 2-4, 2009 With its large all-female cast, The Women follows the lives of a handful of wealthy Manhattan women. Focusing on Mary Haines, gossip flies and she learns her husband is having an affair. Friends stir things up while Mary tries to ignore the news. Finally conceding defeat, she heads awaits her divorce decree. In Reno the antics continue as one after another of Mary’s friends join her. Two years later the friends have gathered and their rearranged relationships are tumultuous at best. The Women proves that in spite of gossip, vanity and disappointment, hope can reign supreme and love is triumphant in the end.
Cheating Cheaters Directed by Mary Massey Auditions March 29 & 30 May 28-31, and June 4-6 2009 In this hilarious comedy Theresa and Angelica, two sisters, are raising their orphaned niece. They impersonate begging nuns in order to send Tania to art school in Europe. But they run into trouble: a cat burglar is about to make off with their ill-gotten gains; and a policeman follows Theresa home. However, the personable young thief is willing to consider alternate means of fund-raising; while the cop is on the take. The four join forces and things go great—until the saintly Tania shows up unannounced, resulting in a series of comical misunderstandings. |
